Governance
Structure
The non-profit association "Œuvre Fédérale Les Amis des Aveugles" is run by a Board of Directors whose members come from the three regions of the country and are nominated by a General Assembly for a renewable five-year term. Directorships are unpaid.
The President is elected from and by the members of the Board of Directors, and directs the association's policies. The President is assisted in daily tasks by a Management Committee that is also elected from and by the members of the Board of Directors. It consists of six directors and the President.
The Management implements policy set by the Management Committee, oversees missions given to the association's Departments/Services and coordinates their activities.
Each Department/Service is headed by a Manager who handles management within the scope of powers defined by the management of the association.
Lines of action
With a keen concern for the improvement of the quality of life for the visually impaired, their information and recognition of their rights, the association acts in a general way and offers various services. It is skilled in many different areas of activity: prevention, visual rehabilitation, support, social and professional integration, culture, recreation and housing.
For several years, the association has developed a specific action: Offer of Integrated Services (O.I.S.) that is a personalized response, a "made-to-measure" combination of services integrating medical, psychological, social, educational and professional aspects. This action ensures a quality answer to the blind or visually impaired person that is specifically adapted to his/her needs and expectations.
The association's annual accounts are audited by a Company Auditing Agency and filed each year with the National Bank of Belgium.
